How to sip your cocktail in a five star way? Do not swallow the ring lying at the bottom of your glass!
It seems to be the new perfect mix: rare spirits on astonishing rocks.
This luxurious trend is spreading fast and it’s now possible to order jewelry cocktails all over the world.
In New York, stop by the Blue Bar at the Algonquin Hotel and indulge yourself with a Martini on the Rock: vodka, dry vermouth, olives and a 1.5carat diamond (it will cost you around $10,000 depending on the diamond size and value).
Should you prefer sapphire, head for Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut and ask for a Sapphire Martini: Bombay Sapphire gin, blue curaçao, dry vermouth, blue sugar on the rim of the glass and a sterling silver pick holding a pair of 2.5carat sapphire and diamond earrings (around $3,000).
In London, you may have a diamond cocktail at the Sheraton’s bar mixing Charles Heidsieck Vintage 2001 champagne, Remy Martin Louis XIII cognac, a splash of angostura and your choice of diamond (from $5,000).
But it would be a shame to miss the world’s most expensive cocktail: the unique Dazzle cocktail available at Harvey Nichol’s bar in Manchester. For $52,000, a breathtaking blend of rosé champagne, strawberry and lychee liqueurs, lemon juice fancied by a white gold ring paved with pink tourmaline and diamond.
Since recently, Kenyan five star palace the Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club offers singular olives with their martinis: a selection of precious gemstones rising up to a 3 carat tanzanite ($1,500).
In case you’re too afraid to chew a diamond, come back to traditional luxury blend with a side car cocktail from the Hemingway Bar at the Ritz Hotel in Paris: 1830 Ritz Reserve fine cognac (the world’s oldest and rarest), cointreau and a splash of lemon juice served in a simple martini glass. It’s worth any jewel on Earth…

Need a break to relax and rejuvenate in a five star venue after a tiring shopping day in Paris? In the heart of the golden triangle, the brand new spa address from Dior is waiting to welcome you at one of the most stuning Parisian palaces, the Plaza Athénée!
The Dior Institute, inaugured last month, reinvents the love story between Christian Dior and the Avenue Montaigne hotel offering an outstanding spa experience in the great tradition of the two luxury Houses. Monsieur Dior was attached to the Plaza Athénée, throwing his Fashion shows in its salons and taking inspiration from its timeless elegance (remember the “bar” collection in 1947). More than 6O years after, the Dior Institute finally merges with brilliance Dior’s Haute Couture and cosmetics know-how and the luxurious environment of Plaza Athénée.
The spa is a magic venue offering five treatment rooms including one double VIP room, a lounge room and a complete fitness center with steam rooms and saunas. The decoration is directly inspired by Dior iconic themes: smooth colors between delicate white and chic silver tones, ‘cannage’ pattern, Louis XVI armchairs, allied with high technology features for the beauty diagnosis and materials.
The treatments – for women as well as for men, are focused on the skin’s youthfulness and features Dior’s best-seller cosmetic products: ‘Capture Totale’ and ‘L’or de Vie’ for rejuvenating face programs, Dior Homme Dermo system for men, and special treatments available only at Plaza Athénée. To keep in pace with our fast-moving lifestyle, the duration of the treatment is quite short : between 60minutes for a silken body treatment to a 2hour ‘Me time’ body program.
But you can also choose a longer stay as a resident at Plaza Athénée: 3 to 5days programs and even a 2 weeks package including 6 amazing rejuvenating programs…

The Bugatti Veyron Fbg Hermès – from the Hermès House headquarters address in Paris, rue du Faubourg (shorten Fbg) Saint-Honoré, is a masterpiece of automotive expertise and high luxury.
The result of this five star collaboration is rather impressive. It allies a turbocharged 16-cylinder engine that produce 1,001hp, reach 60mph in 2.4s for a top speed that propulse you at 253mph (407km/h) with a superb two-tone carriage that echoes 1924 Bugatti Type 35 model and a cockpit entirely fitted with calfskin leather.
Gabriele Pezzini, Hermès designer, has brilliantly reinterpreted the Bugatti sportcar with the Hermès’ touch. As a result, the Veyron Fbg offers an elegant line with luxurious details: a colored hood in extension of the inner space, a saddle-stitched leather wheel branded with the H of the luxury house, a brushed aluminium dash, door handles inspired by the traditional Hermès luggage handles, and even a Hermès leather style case located in the trunk.
The cost of this ultimate supercar jewel? No less than 1.55million €, that is to say around $2.77million. But for that price, you can select the color scheme of your Veyron between 5 five star variants: Ebony and Brick, Indigo Blue and Vermilion, Indigo Blue and Lime Green, Black and Garance Red, and Prussian Blue and Blue Jean. Which will be yours?

Sold for $100 million last year to a private investor, this jewelry masterpiece is not less sound than Shakespeare’s.
The contemporain artist Damien Hirst is well known for his constant denunciation of the foolishness of the luxury world.
The purpose of a diamond-encrusted cast of a human skull was to demonstrate that a rich man is ready to buy anything as soon as it is encrusted by diamonds.
“For the Love of God” – the name of the skull, should have told the world about cupidity and our disrupted societies run by money. But at the end, the buyer reveals to be a consortium included Hirst’s own business manager…
The skull is nonetheless a rare jewelry masterpiece. It is a platinum cast of a 18th century human skull paved with 8,601 flawless diamonds for an astonishing total of 1,106.18 carats, in which an amazing 52-carat pear-shape pink diamond set on the forehead. Hirst also ensures that all diamonds are ethically sourced, as the teeth that are… human.
The skull is currently shown in museum exhibitions but Hirst forecasts to put it again on the market in one to three-year time. In the meanwhile, let’s quote Hirst’s mum: “For the love of God, what are you going to do next?” Oh yes, a direct auction at Sotheby’s with an estimated value of £116million starring “The Golden Calf” a 18-carat gold encrusted bull (entry price £8-12million, that is to say $14-21million)…

Located in the small village of Susut, a few miles from Ubud city center, the Hanging Gardens hotel is a truly hidden garden of Eden. 38 private villas are terraced on a steep hillside in the heart of the Ayung River and are accessible via a private funicular. Each villa consists of a bedroom with a king sized four-poster bed, a separated bathroom with a large marble bath, a large balinese style terrace with its own bale (balinese traditional outdoor pavillion) and a private heated outdoor pool on a dramatic panoramic view of the valley.
From your villa, you can admire the Pura Dalem Segara, a beautiful balinese temple illuminated every night, the Ayung River and the Hanging Gardens fabulous exotic garden that presents in particular cocoa, coffee, bamboo and jackfruit trees and beautiful orchids.
For a morning exercise, you can trek to the temple by crossing a bamboo deck and going up to the temple or have a good swim in the terraced main swimming pools that mocks the shape of balinese rice fields. A free shuttle service is available to go shopping in Ubud and the hotel proposes a series of activities and excursions (trekking, rafting, cycling…). To invigorate your body, stop by the Ayung Spa for a balinese massage or a complete treatement on the stunning Ayung riverside or in your villa.

Swiss watchmaker Tag Heuer is joining Dior (both part of the LVMH Group) on the mobile phone market with the launch of the MERIDIIST.
Presented in London at Selfridges, Tag Heuer’s MERIDIIST is the new luxury phone to compete with the Vertu mobile line. In the direct watchmaking tradition, the phone is hand made with about 430 assembled components. The case is made from 316L steel (used for watchmaking) and either rubber, leather or – more five star – crocodile skin. The screen in sapphire crystal (60.5carats) is said unscratchable.
There is an independent monochrome OLED screen display on the outer rim that enables you to see what time is it and who is calling without picking the phone from your pocket.
The price? Between 3,400€ and 3,900€ ($5,300 to $6,100) depending on the finition (rubber, leather or crocodile skin).
MERIDIIST is tailor-made for Tag Heuer’s men. And with its amazing power reserve of 28 days and 7hours talktime, the MERIDIIST won’t let you (neither Tiger Woords) down in the middle of the green…

La Prairie’s Cellular Radiance Concentrate Pure Gold. This skin enhancement serum contains 24-carat gold and quartz liquid crystals combined with the exclusive, famous La Prairie anti-age complex. Packaged in a sublim golden stick (30mL/1.0oz for around $550 depending on your retailer), it promises instant lines plumping and skin illumination.
Be careful not to be boobytrapped: despite of its name and golden packaging , Dior’s L’Or de Vie is not made from pure gold. But don’t worry, Dior picks from the best Wines & Spirits products to offer a five star product. L’Or de Vie is made from exclusive Chateau Yquem vineyard’s white grapes (active polyphenols). Two types of skincare are available: a pot of cream “La Crème” (50mL/1.7oz for around $300) and a flask of extract “L’Extrait”(15mL/0.5oz for around $350).
Each product is packaged luxuriously with a glass and gold code. And it is delivered with a golden spoon…
Chanel Premiere Watch August 19, 2008

Be prepared, more than 20 years after its creation, Chanel reinvents the Premiere watch!
The art piece will be available from October in Chanel Watches & Fine Jewelry boutiques.
Born in 1987 under Jacques Helleu’s pen, the Premiere watch is a magic alliance of Chanel codes: an octogonal case which shape is inspired both by the mythic bottle stopper of N°5 perfume and by the architecture of Place Vendome (the famous home for fine jewelers in Paris) and a strap that borrows the iconic leather chain strap of the 2.55 handbags.
Last year, a precious pearl and diamond version celebrates the twentieth birthday of the Premiere watch, but this 2008 version reinterprets and modernizes the original concept with talent. The watch is a subtile alchemy between the mythic octogonal case (saphhire cut glass, fine hands and glossy dial) and the avant-garde material used for J12 watches: ceramic. Two models are edited, and for each two colors are offered – white or black:
- a “basic” version: steel and ceramic bracelet with a steel case encrusted by 52 diamonds (0.26 carat), 4,000€ (around $6,000)
- a five star version combining 18 carats white gold and ceramic and completing the 52 diamonds case with a 216 diamonds bracelet (1.55 carats). The price of this luxurious model: 18,000€ (around $27,000)
Anna Mouglalis, Chanel’s Fashion egerie, will be the first to wear the Premiere watch… for the ad campaign of course (shot by Dominique Issermann).
Villa Léopolda: the world’s most expensive estate August 18, 2008

Wanna visit the world’s most expensive villa? Ask Mikhaïl Prokhorov, one of the world’s richest men (a capital estimated to almost 20 billions dollars), for a tour of his new home sweet home, luxurious Villa Léopolda.
Located in Villefranche-sur-Mer, one exclusive spot on the French Riviera, Villa Léopolda was once the dream of King Léopold II of Belgium, who bought the land at the beginning of the twentieth century but died before the construction of the villa could start. It was finally built by Ogden Codman in 1930. Magnified by Giovanni Agnelli (Fiat’s CEO) in the fifties, the villa sits on 20 acres and dominates Villefranche’s bay offering an outstanding view on the Mediterrannée.
Current owner Lily Safra (widow of the banking billionaire Edmond Safra) has finally decided to sell the sumptuous estate for the highest sale price ever for such a property: €496m, that is to say around $800m! That placed Mikhaïl Prokhorov as the highest bidder and the new owner from September.
At only 43, he is now the owner of a five star villa which garden requires 50 full time gardeners to take care of the 1,200 cypress citrus and olive trees and of the beautiful French garden. With the closest neighbour at 2kms (1.2miles), he won’t be disturbed in the swimming pool…

Available from the App Store since the 11th of July, the application offers a real online customer experience for a 60Mo download. It displays news from Chanel website: events, backstage, people gossips, exclusive news… But the real innovation for a luxury House is the browsing of the last show video and photos. It enables you to interact with the looks and accessories by using the advanced digital features of the iPhone (select, enlarge, browse…) on the images – even on the video.
The must: the store locator that indicates the way to the closest Chanel boutiques wherever you are and displays an interactive map and useful information (full address and contact numbers). You can go anywhere with your fashion reference in your pocket. An application that Coco Chanel would have liked: “Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening”
