How to sip your cocktail in a five star way? Do not swallow the ring lying at the bottom of your glass!
It seems to be the new perfect mix: rare spirits on astonishing rocks.
This luxurious trend is spreading fast and it’s now possible to order jewelry cocktails all over the world.
In New York, stop by the Blue Bar at the Algonquin Hotel and indulge yourself with a Martini on the Rock: vodka, dry vermouth, olives and a 1.5carat diamond (it will cost you around $10,000 depending on the diamond size and value).
Should you prefer sapphire, head for Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut and ask for a Sapphire Martini: Bombay Sapphire gin, blue curaçao, dry vermouth, blue sugar on the rim of the glass and a sterling silver pick holding a pair of 2.5carat sapphire and diamond earrings (around $3,000).
In London, you may have a diamond cocktail at the Sheraton’s bar mixing Charles Heidsieck Vintage 2001 champagne, Remy Martin Louis XIII cognac, a splash of angostura and your choice of diamond (from $5,000).
But it would be a shame to miss the world’s most expensive cocktail: the unique Dazzle cocktail available at Harvey Nichol’s bar in Manchester. For $52,000, a breathtaking blend of rosé champagne, strawberry and lychee liqueurs, lemon juice fancied by a white gold ring paved with pink tourmaline and diamond.
Since recently, Kenyan five star palace the Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club offers singular olives with their martinis: a selection of precious gemstones rising up to a 3 carat tanzanite ($1,500).
In case you’re too afraid to chew a diamond, come back to traditional luxury blend with a side car cocktail from the Hemingway Bar at the Ritz Hotel in Paris: 1830 Ritz Reserve fine cognac (the world’s oldest and rarest), cointreau and a splash of lemon juice served in a simple martini glass. It’s worth any jewel on Earth…

Sold for $100 million last year to a private investor, this jewelry masterpiece is not less sound than Shakespeare’s.
The contemporain artist Damien Hirst is well known for his constant denunciation of the foolishness of the luxury world.
The purpose of a diamond-encrusted cast of a human skull was to demonstrate that a rich man is ready to buy anything as soon as it is encrusted by diamonds.
“For the Love of God” – the name of the skull, should have told the world about cupidity and our disrupted societies run by money. But at the end, the buyer reveals to be a consortium included Hirst’s own business manager…
The skull is nonetheless a rare jewelry masterpiece. It is a platinum cast of a 18th century human skull paved with 8,601 flawless diamonds for an astonishing total of 1,106.18 carats, in which an amazing 52-carat pear-shape pink diamond set on the forehead. Hirst also ensures that all diamonds are ethically sourced, as the teeth that are… human.
The skull is currently shown in museum exhibitions but Hirst forecasts to put it again on the market in one to three-year time. In the meanwhile, let’s quote Hirst’s mum: “For the love of God, what are you going to do next?” Oh yes, a direct auction at Sotheby’s with an estimated value of £116million starring “The Golden Calf” a 18-carat gold encrusted bull (entry price £8-12million, that is to say $14-21million)…

A five star fragrance to feel N°1 August 12, 2008

Every year, Clive Christian finds and combines the best ingredients to produce an unique perfume. The extreme scarcity of the plants used makes the fragrance unique each year: for instance, the Indian natural aged sandalwood and the pure Tahitian vanilla used to compose 2008’s N°1 fragrance could no be found anymore next year. A real exclusive perfume. A five star explosion of floral and cedarwood notes.
The perfume is sold in a precious bottle. One ounce (around 30ml) costs $2,350 but only 1,000 of the precious liquid are released each year for the men fragrance and no more for the women version. Clive Christian’s fragrances are distributed by a limited number of prestige department stores: Saks Fifth Avenue and Bergdorf Goodman in New York, Harrods and House of Fraser in London.
Succumb to the fatal attraction of the Imperial Majesty limited edition. Wrapped in a luxurious Baccarat crystal bottle with a gold collar crowned by… a diamond, this fragrance has been produced to 10 one-ounce bottle in which only five released on the market to the price of $200,000. This edition was first presented in last December at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York.
Otherwise, you can ask for a customized bottle as Elton John who paid $250,000 for a piano-shaped bottle…

For a five star experience, Boucheron’s website enables you to customize as you want your engagement ring or one of the House of Boucheron’s mythic pieces (1).
For the engagement ring, the website gives you the choice between 10 models in which you’ll find the iconic Ava rings (round or square). We can then select the type of gold and the diamond you want (based on 4C criteria to choose the quality of the stone) or your price range.
You can also customize one of the illustruous Boucheron rings (Cinna, Cameleon or Secret ring) by creating the color mix you fancy (the available gems are: diamonds emeralds, blue sapphires and rubies) by clicking and dragging gems on the ring.
The Reflet watch customization is possible by selecting the size and the metal of the case (yellow/white/pink gold, steel or mix) and then the corresponding watch strap including precious skin (alligator, ostrich…) and matching metal.
One of the must: for your customized cufflinks, there are no more than 13 different stick choices, from standard metals to semi-precious stones (malachite, rock crystal or even coral).
When your customized creation is finished, you’ll just have to order it online following a quick three-step process (order, billing, payment). And go back to reality with your own Boucheron jewel…

Of course, you can invest in a Vertu phone but we all agree it’s more show-off than fashion. Alternatively, you can also buy one of the co-branded phones that have flown on the cell phone market for a while (Prada phone by LG, Giorgio Armani by Samsung, Dolce&Gabbana by Motorola, Lolita Lempicka by Samsung…) but it’s really cheap. Forget about that, actually there’s a five star option: stop by a Dior’s boutique and get a Dior phone!
You have the choice between two models : a standard version featuring a crystal sapphire case and an exclusive version, encrusted of 640 diamonds (for a total of 3,251 carats) on the case, the hinge and the touchpad rehaussed by an amazing 5branch star in the middle.
The must? The Dior menu and the uncomparable dialing tones: mix of Christian Dior’s famous sentences on lounge music background.
The price of such a five star phone? 3500€ (around $4,700) for the standard version, up to 18000€ ($27,000) for the diamond version delivered with its own case made of… crocodile skin!

The “Diamond Forever” handbag, presented by Forbes magazine on top of the list of the world’s most extravagant handbags (1) is a must have in the five star luxury world!
The concept : an ultimate luxurious version of the mythic Classic shoulder bag combining rare skin (alligator skin, one of the world’s rarest and most expensive skins) and a five star white gold clasp encrusted in 334 diamonds for an astonishing total of 3.56 carats.
The cost : 189 933€ (around $300,000)… that makes it the world’s most expensive handbag.
From the catwalk to charities:
Presented first on the Chanel Cruise 08 show (05/18/07), only 13 of this premium has reached the market. Madonna’s choice to carry the black version of the bag with a Haute Couture Chanel’s dress at Cannes this year and to auction it (with its content!) at the annual amfAR Cinema Against AIDS event makes the Diamond Forever become an icon. It sold for £471,000, 1.5 time more than George Clooney’s kiss on auction last year but as Madonna said : “That’s cheap. Everyone’s kissed George Clooney” whereas carrying a diamond alligator bag…
